Large Particle Flow Cytometry | In-flow sorting of objects from 20 – 1,500 microns Union Biometrica Logo
Introduction: COPAS Large Particle Flow Cytometers

Flow cytometry based instruments for in-flow analysis, sorting, and collection of objects and biological materials ranging in size from 20 to 1500 microns in diameter.  Instruments have been designed to accommodate larger objects while maintaining viability.

Instruments feature:
  • A larger diameter flow cell
  • Low pressure fluidics and optical assembly for reduced shear forces
  • Patented gentle airflow sorting mechanism that does not harm biological samples or sensitive chemistries
Parameters Measured
  • Axial length of the object (size), which is referred to in flow cytometry as
    Time of Flight (TOF)
  • Optical density of the object of interest (optical extinction), which is referred
    to as Extinction (EXT)
  • Simultaneous detection of three-colors of fluorescence (FLU)
  • Optional electronic and optic systems offer measurement capabilities:
    • ReFLx for re-sampling of dispensed objects
    • Advanced Acquisition Package option provides users enhanced analytical tools and increased COPAS instrument sensitivity
    • Profiling for increased sort parameters and greater instrument sensitivity
Sorting and dispensing decisions are based on user-selected ranges of EXT, TOF and FLU that are entered our through our COPAS software. A full demonstration of instrument operation will be shown later in this presentation.
